I mentioned last week its difficult to publish on social media channels, especially when it feels like something so trivial as keyword research or content calendars. Sometime soon, these things will be incredibly important. But, now is not the right time.
With everything that’s happening, I find myself down a rabbit-hole of news that leaves me short on breath. Tense. Even sore. I really needed to see this list, especially this quote:
If you’re a small business owner, I’m here for advice when it comes to digital channels. I’ll help in any way I can.
If you need a job or your business needs help, I’ll amplify as much as I can. Your message is much more important than mine.
If you just need someone to talk to, someone who will listen without judgement, I’m here for you. We are all stressed. Anxious. We are scared and that’s okay. So, let’s talk about it. I’m here for you, even if we’re only connections and have never actually spoke in person before.
Let’s spend less time worrying, more time connecting. Give this a read, then reply and let me know when you want to chat. Let’s talk about anything else. Or let’s talk about that thing that is stressing us out the most. Either way, its time to get together.
We’re gonna get through this. Together.
What to do with all those eyeballs
As more of the world is home and heir attention locked to their phone, what does this mean for digital marketing? SocialBakers has created a great report on the status of social media marketing. I highly encourage you to read it. Personally, we need to look at what this means for us as digital marketers now, during this time of crisis, and start to think about what we’re going to do when this is over.
I knwo it feels overwhelming, but this will end at some point. As digital marketers, we are drawn to the future. In a way we are all futurists and now is a time to put those skills to good use. In 90 days, when things start to feel normal again, what will you be doing? I suggest getting started on that right now.
If anything, it will help us keep focus on our work and not the news cycle.

There is still so much good happening in the world everyday. One of my favorite things about working from home is seeing everyone’s setup, their pets, kids, spouses, even the pile of laundry in the corner. Its been so great getting to know my coworkers and seeing just how much we have in common. Every time I hear a baby cry or yell in the background, it makes me smile.
Fake news, we definitely want to see your babies, your pets, even your plant. https://t.co/VVjLMMDKbx

If anything good comes out of this, I hope we can all be more authentic. We are willing to pull back the curtain a little and show people who we really are. Each Friday I’ve been having a “cool down” get together with my coworkers before the weekend. In our last chat I found out a person I rarely speak to is also an avid Imgurian! Both of us bonded over our love of the greatest meme platform, the Imgur community and using it as our escape from stress.
Seeing people’s dogs try to get comfortable in a chair, babies yelling, kids playing, spouses trying to sneak by, it all makes my heart feel full. We’re all just people. Humanity will win.
Would love to hear from you on this topic!
